Under Florida law, hammerheads are among the shark species for which “all harvest, possession, landing, purchase, sale or exchange” are prohibited in Florida waters - note the word “landing.” Aside from the fact that this sort of behavior is reckless endangerment, I suspect that Florida Dept of Wildlife might have an interest in tracking down these bufoons.

My parents spent their last 10 winters on Hutchinson Island. What a wonderful place! I was there in a February and, there were barely 5 people on the beach and it was almost 80 degrees. A great place.

My boyfriend hooked one he couldn't turn around this past May using a 12' surf caster and 20lb test. We'll be trying again in October.

I could see the Princess in the back round about 2 condo's north of where he landed it.
